Gentle Thanksgiving Sets New Records
We distributed 6,000 promotional postcards, and faxed news releases and letters to several thousand lifestyle and food editors and talk show producers. Our letter to the editor appeared in nearly 70 papers. Our website provides guidance for event organizers, Thanksgiving recipes, listing of events by state, and news releases. Visit the Gentle Thanksgiving website for more details.
On November 27th, President Bush signed into law the highly controversial Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA). The Act brands animal activists as 'terrorists,' abridges our freedom of speech and assembly, and is exceptionally FARM has spearheaded formation of the Equal Justice Alliance (EJA) a coalition of animal protection and other social justice groups. Our mission is to safeguard freedom of speech and assembly for animal and other activists by neutralizing AETA. We are creating a supportive climate for animal activism within the federal legislative and legal communities through conferences and visits. We are seeking the support of other groups. Please visit the EJA website to learn more about the flaws of AETA and what we propose to do about them. Your financial support is solicited.
In the past three months, we published nearly 400 letters to the editor on 5 topics in more than 200 papers. The topics included World Farm Animals Day, The Jungle, school lunch, declining fish populations, and Thanksgiving.
Contact us to join our Letters network, or obtain text of selected letters.
