Jessica Carlson joined FARM in Sept 2017 as the Director of Operations. She moved from Erie, PA to follow her passion of working a full-time job that would be helping animals. Jessica has many years’ experience of successfully managing and helping to develop and grow individuals in their careers. For over 9 years, she worked in the education field and helped create programs that taught the values of love and compassion towards all living beings to the children.
When Jessica was not working, she was highly involved with grassroots work in her community raising awareness about animal issues. Jessica founded and organized The Erie Vegan Meetup Group and Humane Action Erie. By doing that she could focus on a variety of issues and gear the topics towards the appropriate individuals. Jessica would organize meetups and gatherings, documentary screenings, peaceful protests, leafletting events as well as focus on local legislative issues that needed to be addressed. She also was very successful at organizing Erie’s 1st and 2nd 5K Tofurky Trots and mini community veg events that raised money for various animal sanctuaries or vegan organizations.
On Jessica’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and rescued fur babies which are 3 dogs, 4 cats, 1 guinea pig and 1 chinchilla. She says: “Exploring the outdoors and connecting to nature is what keeps me energized and inspired”.
