Switch Witch

The Switch Witch is a fun Halloween tradition that lets kids enjoy trick-or-treating while making sure the candy they keep is vegan. After trick-or-treating, children leave any non-vegan candy they collected for the mysterious Switch Witch, who visits overnight and secretly swaps it for vegan candy and treats. By morning, the non-vegan sweets have disappeared and a stash of animal-friendly goodies is waiting in their place. It keeps all the excitement of costumes, collecting candy, and Halloween night while giving vegan families an easy, positive way to celebrate without missing out.
There are so many ways to make Halloween fun, festive, and compassionate. Spend an autumn afternoon apple picking, wander through a corn maze, carve pumpkins, roast the seeds, sip warm apple cider, or take the family on a hayride. Stock the trick-or-treat bowl with vegan candy, hunt for one-of-a-kind decorations at thrift stores, and complete the celebration with an animal-friendly costume and vegan makeup.

A compassionate Halloween also means looking out for local wildlife. Avoid using bleach to preserve carved pumpkins, since animals may try to eat them; a vinegar mixture is safer. When Halloween is over, dispose of pumpkins responsibly based on local wildlife guidance and composting options. In busy areas, remove pumpkins promptly so animals aren’t attracted to porches, streets, or other potentially dangerous places.
