Kwanzaa: First Fruit
Rooted in African harvest traditions, Kwanzaa means “First Fruits” and celebrates African heritage, Black culture, community, and the Nguzo Saba, or Seven Principles. Created by Dr. Maulana Karenga and first celebrated in 1966, Kwanzaa also calls us to consider our responsibility to one another and the world we share—a powerful foundation for a compassionate celebration.
