10 Reasons to Go Vegan

There are millions of reasons to go vegan, and we want to share what we feel are the top ten:

  1. Your health

Your health shouldn’t rank tenth on any scale, but for the sake of this list, we placed it tenth so you’d see it first. It’s proven that a whole-food, plant-based diet is optimal for human health at all stages of life.

  1. The planet

We all share one planet and it’s our shared responsibility to leave it in better shape than when we arrived. Recent reports on climate change paint a grim picture of what the future holds if we don’t make changes. A plant-based diet is the single easiest way to lower your carbon footprint.

  1. Community

By going vegan you become part of a unique “club.” A network of like-minded people who all are in this together. There is a ton of support for your decision to go vegan, and we’re here to help (as are thousands of others online and in-person). The only regret vegans have is that they didn’t go vegan sooner.

  1. Everyone’s doing it

No longer a trend, going vegan has become a status symbol for people who show they truly care about their health, the planet, and the animals. Veganism is growing by leaps and bounds,  and the availability of delicious plant-based foods keeps growing.

  1. Delicious plant-based foods

It’s no secret that more and more plant-based products have been rolling out daily. From incredible burgers to creamy desserts, there is no lack of options both at the grocery store and at your favorite restaurants (see giveaway below). Plus, anything you eat can now be made vegan.

  1. Animals are smart

Animals are smart. In fact, many animals are arguably smarter than your niece or nephew (don’t tell them that). On a global scale, animal agriculture is destroying the plant, and on a more local scale, all animals have feelings and emotions and deserve to live.

  1. Stamina

We mentioned health, but did you know that in addition to lowering your cholesterol, potential weight loss, and avoiding long-term health issues and diseases — your stamina will also increase. Energy from plant-based foods is the fuel your body really needs to perform.

  1. Living your values

Vegans go to sleep at night and wake up each morning knowing they are going to go through their day doing the least amount of harm possible to all living beings. Lead life through “Ahimsa,” (Sanskrit: “noninjury”) in the Indian religions of Jainism, Hinduism, and Buddhism, the ethical principle of not causing harm to other living things.

  1. Making a difference

You can choose to make a difference in your life, and a vegan lifestyle aligns better with your beliefs. You love animals so why not extend that to all animals? The difference you make will inspire others to follow.

“Each one of us can make a difference. Together we make change.” ~ Barbara Mikulski

  1. The animals

Rounding out the top of this list (and our personal favorite) are the animals. By going vegan you’re making a commitment to all living beings on this shared planet (see above). Be kind to all kinds by living a compassionate lifestyle.
