WHAT WE DO FOR THE ANIMALS
our mission-driven work
We do this work because animals deserve more than a life defined by suffering and exploitation. Billions of chickens, pigs, cows, turkeys, fishes, and other animals are raised and killed for food every year, enduring confinement, painful procedures, family separation, stressful transport, and slaughter.
These animals are not products or production units. They are sentient individuals who experience fear, pain, comfort, and connection—and their lives matter. Yet our food system routinely denies them even their most basic needs and natural behaviors.

Why We Do It
FARM exists to challenge that system and create a future where animals are no longer used for food. Every animal spared matters. Every person we reach moves us closer to change. And every compassionate choice helps build a world where animals are valued for who they are, not what humans can take from them.

Animals
For animals raised and killed for food, suffering is built into the system. Billions endure confinement, painful procedures, family separation, stressful transport, and slaughter. From chickens and pigs to cows and fishes, animals are treated as commodities rather than sentient individuals. Their suffering is enormous, often hidden, and entirely preventable.

Health
What we eat has a powerful impact on our health. Diets high in red and processed meat are linked to increased risks of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers, while animal agriculture contributes to foodborne illness and antimicrobial resistance. Choosing more whole, plant-based foods can protect our health while creating a healthier food system.

Environment
Our food choices have a powerful impact on the environment. Animal agriculture requires vast amounts of land and resources while contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, water pollution, habitat destruction, and biodiversity loss. Choosing more plant-based foods reduces our environmental footprint and helps build a more sustainable future. Learn more at GreenYourPlate.org.
Our work is rooted in empathy for animals and a concern for our health and the health of our environment.
Every year, an estimated 88 billion chickens, pigs, cows, and other land animals are confined, exploited, and slaughtered for food, alongside countless fishes and other aquatic animals taken from our oceans. The consequences extend far beyond animal suffering. Extensive research links the consumption of animal products, particularly red and processed meats, to increased risks of heart disease, certain cancers, and type 2 diabetes. Meanwhile, animal agriculture accelerates climate change through greenhouse gas emissions and contaminates waterways with massive amounts of animal waste. The cost of eating animals is staggering—for the animals, our health, and the environment.
